And the carnage keeps on coming. Isn't this war getting really, really old?
P.S. Shue, you ought to come over to The Activist to post a comment on today's Open Thread. The topic I started out with is elections and voting processes, specifically Proposition 3, which will bring us Instant-Runoff Voting.
Feel free to post on whatever subject you like - we'll be doing this every Tuesday from now until November.
Instead of using the names of the dead soldiers to further your point maybe you should try to find out more about each of them and tell their story not just your own. I find what you are doing to be more a morbid body count and using the death of these American Soldiers that gave up their lives to only benefit your views. You sir are no better than the politicans in Washington for what you are doing. I find this to be disgraceful not only to the soldiers but to their families. Maybe you should try and show compassion to what each of these brave Americans and their families have given up to give you the right to voice your opinion as you do.
Anonymous,
Thank you for visiting and leaving your comment here. Let me begin by saying that I have been posting these "statistics" and names since 2004 and have never used these particular pages to editorialize. I'm sure it might appear that simply posting the names (given my other writings on the blog) would be an editorial comment in and of itself but I can assure you it has never been my intention to do more than report exactly the same thing the DoD reports for news consumption. Now if you, the reader, should decide that you want to know more about the soldier behind the name, there are many more places you may do so.
As for whether I am showing compassion for the fallen, I would suggest that I am one of the few sites that continues to recognize the sacrifice of our troops by remembering them on these pages. I don't know about your hometown mewspaper but mine no longers gives me any information on the "war-time" casualties unless they are from our region.
No, I will continue to honor these fallen by publishing their names rather than hiding them away from view.
Thanks again for posting your views.
Peace,
Chad (The Left) Shue
