Act Blue With The Left Shue

Once again, as in 2004, The Left Shue has created a fundraising page on the site Act Blue. Act Blue allows individuals or groups to set up their own fundraising operation for candidates or groups that they support.

While we are under no allusions that we will raise the kind of funds that the corporate candidates will, we certainly hope that those who read here will give what they can to support good Progressive candidates.

When you contribute here you will be redirected to Act Blue's secure contribution page. Be assured that your privacy is guarded at all times and that other readers will not have access to your information or contribution amount. The total amounts raised for each candidate supported by this Blog will be posted on periodically (along with the national totals from all of the Act Blue contributing members.

Peace,
Chad (The Left) Shue

It's great to see Kucinich getting the Act Blue support. If those numbers are accurate he should beat the other folks by a large margin.I know that those who are really interested in change are for in Dennis!
Out of Iraq!
Out of NAFTA AND CAFTA!
Healthcare for All!
Take care of or Vets!
Public Financing of elections!
End corporate government corruption!

The Choice is simple!
Kucinich in 2008!

Ozy,

I am curious about what you see in these numbers for Dennis. It is true that he has better "contributor" numbers than Richardson but Bill is blowing him out of the water in total dollars.

The totals for all the Democrats look like this:

Edwards - $4.4 Million/54,000 contributors

Richardson - $309,000 / 1500 contributors

Kucinich - $92,000 / 2200 contributors

Obama, - $32,000 / 384 contributors

Dodd - $27,000 / 566 contributors

Clinton - $6,400 / 99 contributors

Gravel - $4,700 / 102 contributors

Biden - $1,400 / 39 contributors

By the way, what is your take on Kucinich saying that he would consider Ron Paul as a running mate?

Very true Chad,

Richardson is blowing Dennis out of the water like Clinton is crucifying all of them on the total donations.

It's fine that Bill has as larger donors on Act Blue but I look it as Votes. The number Dennis has is far ahead of Bills.Dennis has more Act Blue voters for now.

Money buys elections not what’s best for the country. You know thise as well as I do.

I am done carrying water for the status quo'. It may be a couple more years before the American public gets so screwed over that they learn that money is not as important as having real representation. To measure a candidates qualifications buy how much money they raise is BS.

I think the money may buy the government again this cycle but that's because I am cynical any more.

The lack of intelligent leadership in the Democratic Party makes me want to puke so hey, what the hell.

The candidate who represents the people overall is the one I will support. Bill is very qualified but doesn't put it out there like Dennis.
Of course you have some great points about Bill. He's your guy and that’s cool.
My principles only allow my hypocrisy to go so far and that would be to vote for the D in the general if the best candidate doesn't win in the primary.
I think something which would help the view of Bill on the Shue would be to list exactly what his positions are on each of the top issues.
All the rest is interesting but I think the voters really want the Black and white of it.

Dennis Kucinich
Out of Iraq!
Out of NAFTA AND CAFTA!
Healthcare for All!
Take care of or Vets!
Public Financing of elections!
End corporate government corruption!

There will be no peace as long as corporate lobbyists give money to campaigns.

I like how you close with "Peace" but
Fight for Justice seems better for me.

Thanks for responding I appreciate your courtesy and honesty.

Ozy,

I am only referring to the Act Blue Numbers. Clinton is hardly a blip on the Act Blue Radar - only receiving more funds than Gravel and Biden and only having more contributors than Biden.

You didn't answer my concern about Dennis considering staunch Libertarian Ron Paul for a running mate. Are you OK with that?

Oh I’m sorry Chad, I didn't address the Paul comment.

I don’t' think that’s a good call on his part.

Although Paul is right on the war he is not right on so many other fronts.

I think Dennis may have been looking at the Gov. Brian Schweitzer and Lt. Gov. John Bohlinger combo in Montana where you have two different parties run together.

I don't care for the Paul choice at all. I think he made a bad choice in how he worded his thought. I think we all do that sometimes.

What I do know is that when Bill Richardson was asked why he didn't vote to oust Alberto Gonzales in a timely manner he said it was "because he's Latino"

I would say that's far more of unacceptable logic from a potential president than Dennis considering Paul for a running mate in speculating who he might like to have as a running mate.

Don't you?

If you could explain how you feel about Richardson’s comments in the Gonzales matter I would be interested.

Also
Can you explain why Richardson is against Universal Healthcare for all?

Why is Richardson Pro-NAFTA when we have seen the damage done to workers in the US and in the other countries who were affected by this horrible agreement?

I think Bill is an ok guy but I know that if we all get behind Dennis the country will do far far better.

Stand up and speak!

Ozy,

You have given me some things to chew on.

On Gonzales: Here is what Richardson said about the situation in mid-April:

""The only reason I'm not there (demanding his resignation) is because he's Hispanic, and I know him and like him... It's because he's Hispanic. I'm honest... I want to give him the benefit of the doubt." A couple of days later (after Gozales had appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee) he said to Bill Press, ""I believe he should resign... ...I like the guy, Bill. You know, he's a fellow Hispanic, he came up from very humble means... He's an able guy, but it's obvious that he wasn't engaged in his department and he couldn't answer the testimony in the Senate, and I waited until the Senate to make any view that he should or shouldn't resign... ...The Justice Department should be above politics...""

What I hear there is some obvious ethnic pride that a fellow hispanic is serving in such a high level of government. I would imagine if you were to ask some of the hispanic folks up in your neck of the woods they would feel pretty much the same. However, after giving Gonzales the "benefit of the doubt" and listening to his testimony in the senate, Richardson reaches what must be a hard decision and expresses his sense of betrayal.

On NAFTA, unfortunately no one is perfect and Richardson pretty much touts the "company line" of "we will do our best to fix future agreements." My feeling here is, just as with Howard Dean, Richardson would not sign any agreement that did not meet the strictest standards.

On Healthcare: Richardson does not opposed Universal Healthcare. He simply does not call out for the same "single payer, not for profit" plan that Dennis does. New Mexico has one of the best healthcare plans in the country under Richardson's governorship.

Here's the thing: How will Dennis get all of the things he says he wants when he becomes president if he hasn't gotten ANY of them even started in all the time he has been in Congress?

Thank you for your response Chad.

I understand your position about ethnic pride but as far a Gonzales goes I just can't see how that helps with pride with the crimes that history will show Gonzales perpetrated in his tenure as AT.

Also, When Richardson made the statement "He's an able guy, but it's obvious that he wasn't engaged in his department and he couldn't answer the testimony in the Senate",
I find that statement extraordinarily questionable considering Gonzales’s actions and pressure from accusations of defending torture to terrorism. Attorney Generals job is to constantly be engaged in his department at that highest level of the office.

All of the candidates know very well the level of cronyism, scandal and incompetence that the “Bush Crime Family” has been accomplice to over the years starting with Prescott Bush.
I can’t support that aspect of Richardson’s point of view.

Now this statement
"The only reason I'm not there (demanding his resignation) is because he's Hispanic, and I know him and like him... It's because he's Hispanic. I'm honest... I want to give him the benefit of the doubt."
I am French/Cherokee Indian. I wonder if I could expect the respect of my ethnic pride when push comes to shove especially since I could never stand for Gonzales's involvement in the crafting of the torture memo.

The fix of NAFTA is to get out of it. As long as it is active the bleeding in all members working class won’t stop. The company line is what we have had for too long and people are starting to get that.

I would like to see Bills plan on Health Care. If the profit motive is not in the equation it might work for everyone. If not then it’s not a plan it’s a Band Aide.
Does the Healthcare in New Mexico cover every last person in the state 100%?

Here's the thing: How will Dennis get all of the things he says he wants when he becomes president if he hasn't gotten ANY of them even started in all the time he has been in Congress?

Well, If you want to look at what Bush has gotten as president over the last six years I would think Dennis, with the power of the presidency, will probably get what we need as citizens. FDR did!

I believe Bill Richardson is a good man but I want Dennis Kucinich because he has been right on the majority of the issues from the start. Most Americans need non-company line representation from the President of the United States.

Out of Iraq now!
Healthcare for all!
Out of NAFTA & CAFTA!
Jobs in this country not Beijing China!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank You Chad for honest productive dialog.
