Bush Continues to Threaten Troop Funding
As a matter of fact, in recent speeches Bush has actually taken a "bring it on" approach with the Congress as he urges them to reconcile the House and Senate bills that fund over $100 BILLION for our troops in Iraq so that they may move a final bill to the Whitehouse - where Bush waits with his VETO PEN!
Even more troubling is the coverage in the commercial media. A quick search of news articles on the subject leads to stories that simply parrot the Bush line that 'Congress is delaying needed funds for the troops.' As a matter of fact, I could not find one story from a commercial media source that presented Bush in any vein other than victim.
Soon the Congress will send their funding bill to the Whitehouse. We cannot allow Bush's veto pen to become the hero in this struggle. The time is now for writing to your senators and representatives; reminding them that you support them as they work toward a final bill to fund the troops and begin the end to our involvement in Iraq. It is also time to write to your commercial media outlets and let them know that they have an obligation to tell the American people the whole truth in this situation - George W. Bush is threatening to deny - withold - veto important funding to our troops because he believes that he does not have to answer to Congress or the American people.
The time to act is now. Please help set the record straight.

IWR News Explained
Some other information with regard to ”IWR News” - IWR stands for Iraq War Resolution and is intended to reflect the consequences of that vote in October of 2002. I have chosen to take note of two age distinctions (21 and 25) in these updates. If the service member is under the age of 25, I have listed their age in bold. If they are under the age of 21, their age is listed bold red. Originally I posted the Iraqi civilian deaths from Iraq Body Count (currently estimating 67,364). However, after the second report from the Lancet, setting the number at a much more researched 655,000, I was convinced to report that number instead. Of course, this is not without some concern for me. While the estimates of the Iraq Body Count group appear extremely low, they do reflect an ongoing and daily count as reported by the various news agencies. Therefore, the General Tommy Franks quote is added as the only “editorial comment” to these posts. Finally, because I am a Washingtonian and The Left Shue originates from Washington State, I highlight the information of every Washingtonian killed in Iraq and keep a running tally on the total number of Washingtonians who have died there.
There is much to write about and I will be posting shortly on John McCain’s campaigning on the blood of young Americans and Iraqi legislators. I just thought it was important to understand the context contained in the ”IWR News”.
