Another "Senior Moment" for McSame?

ABC News is reporting that Sen. John McSame, for the 2nd time in two days, is rejecting the endorsement of an evangelical preacher whose support he sought to land him in good standing with the religious right.

"Just three months after seeking his support, Sen. John McCain has now rejected the endorsement of Pastor Rod Parsley, an Ohio televangelist who called Islam an "anti-Christ" religion and a "conspiracy of spiritual evil."

McCain's decision to spurn the popular pastor, who the senator called a "spiritual guide," came after "Good Morning America" broadcast portions of some of Parsley's anti-Muslim statements. A spokesman for Parsley declined to comment on McCain's decision to break with the pastor.

"I believe there is no place for that kind of dialogue in America, and I believe that even though he endorsed me, and I didn't endorse him
(emphasis TLS), the fact is that I repudiate such talk, and I reject his endorsement," said McCain in an interview with the Associated Press last night."

McSame's rejection of Parsley comes just one day after he was forced to reject the endorsement of Rev. John Hagee after audio of Hagee asserting Adolf Hitler was "sent by God" to drive the Jews back to Israel surfaced on the internet.

While it is certainly prudent for McSame to reject these men for their statements, what has me concerned (and should have many concerned) is McSame's seeming lapse of memory in who sought whose endorsement. Could this be yet another "senior moment" for the nearly 72 year old senator?

Senior Moment or Flip-Flop? Does it matter?
