One of the most common refrains we hear about our involvement in Afghanistan is how, if we leave, the people who would be mostly affected would be the women. Conventional wisdom tells us that life under the Taliban holds the worst possible fate for women. However, as with most things in life, it’s the “shades of grey” that best define the picture.
