In case you haven’t heard, the US Military has discovered vast amounts of minerals in Afghanistan that were previously not known to exist. Well the US government knows now…and so does our friend Dave Aldrich who writes so eloquently at his long running site, The Observer:

to extract the minerals,
We shall persuade Karzai that it was allowable
to extract our minerals—he is so amenable.
Finally, they chortled.
The war will now be profitable
as we extract our minerals.
We need only make it winnable.
That’s easy, said the generals.
Everyone is killable.
That is so reasonable,
since they have our minerals.
